In today’s global supply chains, the prevention of forced labor and promotion of ethical recruitment practices are critical components of responsible business conduct. The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct serves as a key framework for companies seeking to uphold human rights and labor standards throughout their operations and extended supply networks.

This training provides a focused review of key compliance elements, beginning with a comprehensive analysis of Labor Section of the RBA Code of Conduct, which addresses freely chosen employment and aligns with the 11 International Labour Organization (ILO) indicators of forced labor. It also examines the RBA’s Definition of Fees (DoF), which reinforces the principle that no worker should pay for a job.

Furthermore, the training highlights relevant regulatory requirements in both sending and receiving countries, ensuring that companies operate within legal and ethical parameters across jurisdictions. Lastly, it outlines a structured approach for conducting pre-engagement due diligence of the next tier of major suppliers, emphasizing the importance of proactive risk identification and mitigation to uphold responsible labor practices across the value chain.

Course Objective: The course aims to help participants to have a clear understanding of the RBA requirements pertaining to Forced Labor and “zero fees policy’.
