Attendance to this conference is free of charge. Registration required.

All sessions will be under the Chatham House Rule

Nearly a year after the publication of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in the Official EU Journal, active efforts to prepare for its implementation are under way, while the policy landscape for Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) continues to evolve. Due diligence is situated at a crossroads: will emerging regulatory requirements lead to outcome-oriented and impactful due diligence, or will lack of focus and lack of scale undermine the effectiveness of supply chain due diligence efforts? What collective actions are needed to ensure that compliance efforts yield impact, and what burdensome processes and activities risk undermining the effectiveness of due diligence practices?

This conference will provide a platform to take stock of regulatory developments, share lessons learned from the regulatory readiness efforts and implementation of due diligence policies, and highlight opportunities for creating sustainable and resilient supply chains.

During the event participants will have the chance to discuss the transposition and implementation of the EU CSDDD across member states and the key gaps in its execution. A key transversal focus will be placed on how to overcome roadblocks in closing the remaining gaps between current due diligence practices and regulatory requirements, and on partnerships with producing countries towards more effective due diligence outcomes. Discussions will then also highlight the integration of environmental due diligence into supply chains, emphasize the importance of meaningful stakeholder engagement, and explore effective strategies for resolving grievances and ensuring impactful remediation processes.

The objectives of this conference are to:

  • Learn about policy developments regarding the implementation of MHRDD legislation, with a focus on the EU CSDDD, its current transposition status, and development of accompanying measures.
  • Deep dive into the key role played by equal partnerships with producing countries in advancing sustainable and resilient supply chains.
  • Learn practical approaches to integrating due diligence into supply chains using tools, practices, and lessons from practice as well as existing best practice implementation models.

This is a multi-stakeholder event targeted at policy-makers, industry experts, independent experts and civil society.

This conference is organised by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) in cooperation with the Initiative for Global Solidarity (IGS) which is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
