Ethical Recruitment Orientation for Labor Providers

Caesar Park Hotel Taipei, Taiwan

December 11 - 12, 2019

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA)'s Responsible Labor Initiative (RLI) will be organizing an Ethical Recruitment orientation at the Caesar Park Hotel Taipei on December 11-12.

The event is organized under the framework of the Fair International Recruitment Against Slavery and Trafficking (FIRST) project funded by the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) which aims to reduce exploitation at work, particularly forced labour and debt bondage experienced by women and men migrant workers.

The primary target group of participants for this orientation are labor providers (manpower suppliers) in Taiwan. The course introduces the standards embodied in the RBA protocol on forced labor and will provide insight to how these standards are applied to participants’ business processes. It will contextualize these standards within legal drivers such as the California Transparency Act, the Foreign Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the U.K. Transparency in Supply Chains Act, among others, and increasing demands from different stakeholders for ethical recruitment practices that avoid forced labor, human trafficking and modern day slavery.

The course will help participants assess themselves against RBA’s protocol on forced labor and prepare action plans that identify internal policies, processes, systems and competencies that need to be in place to meet them.

This orientation is open to labor providers (manpower suppliers) in Taiwan that are supplying to members or suppliers of RBA/RLI member companies.

Participants must be owners, managers, training officers, recruitment and selection officers or its equivalent. They are expected to share and cascade the learnings from the course after attending it to other staff within their companies.

Each labor providers are allowed a maximum of two (2) seats per company, with the possibility of a third seat depending on availability.

This training will be conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation to Chinese.
